Bachmann 31-028 166 Turbo 3 Car DMU 'First Great Western' 2006 Livery

Adtranz Derby (now Bombadier) built 180 Class 165 'Network Turbo' DMUs for intensive commuter service on the Thames and Chiltern Lines. Each unit can have 2 or 3 cars, the bodyshells are constructed from welded alluminium extrusions. The vehicles are powered by a single Perkins 2006-TWH on each car, trnasmission being via a Voith T211rZ hydraulic converter. Final drive is by Gmeinder. Maximum speed is 145km/h on Thames Valley and 120km/h on Chiltern No. of seats: 2-car set: 16 first/170 standard class. 3-car set: 24 first/262 standard class The units on the Chiltern Line are fitted with ATP equipment. The Class 166 additionally has Air Conditioning.
